What's the Meaning Behind "The Fame"?

Welcome old and new followers!

I want to share with you a post I wrote one month before competing in my fitness competition. This will explain the meaning behind my blog name, what it represents, and where my mind was after 4 months of dedicated training.

Meaning Behind ‘The Fame’ and ‘Born This Way’ (August 2011)

On today’s hike I thought how far I’ve come… I thought about where I started, mentally, physically, and emotionally… I thought about how many times in the past I let that doubting, sabotaging, unsupportive, insecure voice convince me that I was not enough… that I didn’t have it in me, that I would never amount to the dream I had for myself, that getting there was ‘too difficult’ for a person like me.

And then I thought about how that is all b#llshit. That’s the voice that is there to challenge you, that’s the voice to see how bad you want it, that’s the voice that’s going to make you work for it, that’s the voice that’s going to push you, to see what you’re made of. This is the voice that screams at you but there is a voice that whispers to you -it’s called intuition. This voice doesn’t need to yell, it whispers because it’s confident and knows what’s best for you. This voice knows that when you’re ready to beat that screaming voice and shut it down that you will hear the whispers and follow them…

THAT screaming voice can be conquered. It’s simple, decide on change. Decide on change and follow through. If you fall, get back up. If you fall again, get back up again. YOU are in control of your destiny and what you want. The sooner you start the sooner you will get there. You have to fight, this is not an easy road but if you want it you will do what it takes to get there. Did you know that it took Thomas Edison 10,000 tries before his invention of the light bulb worked? Edison had faith. Edison knew his destiny. Edison was going to fight until his death to make that invention work because he believed, followed through, dedicated and committed himself.

If you want what’s easy then you can have it. If you want something that’s more than average then you’re going to have to do more than average. What you put out into the world will come back to you. The universe is more powerful than you think and it listens to your inner wishes. But if you don’t believe in your inner wishes, then they are just simply wishes…

If you think you can’t then you will prove yourself right. You have to take risks in life and put your neck out there. No one is going to do the labour for you and there isn’t a magic solution. It’s called HARD WORK.

This leads me to my blog name and a few reasons it was selected. If you haven’t made the connection yet, ‘The Fame’ stems from Lady Gaga’s song ‘The Fame’. It’s about how anyone can feel famous.

According to Gaga, “[The Fame] basically [implies] that if you have nothing, no money, no fame, you can still feel beautiful and dirty rich. It’s about making choices, and having references - things you pull from your life that you believe in. It’s about self-discovery and being creative. The music is intended to inspire people to feel a certain way about themselves so they’ll be able to encompass in their own inner lives a sense of inner fame that they can project to the world and the carefree nature of the album is a reflection of that aura.”

This leads me to my next point: BORN THIS WAY. Although Lady Gaga is a musician and not everyone relates or understands her, she provides strong messages behind her music. ‘Born This Way’ is another example. This song expresses that when you become that person you have always wanted to be, you really haven’t changed, you’ve just become the person you were always meant to be, the person that you were born to be. Take the man from her video (above image) for example. He wasn’t ‘born that way’ but he actually was… he worked toward becoming the person he always felt he was which makes him ‘Born This Way’. Today I feel like I was born this way… I am becoming the person I was always meant to be. This is my time and this is my moment. If you haven’t found your ‘Born This Way’ moment, keep working hard, stay focused on the prize and have faith that you will be ‘Born This Way.’
